Description

What type of wine it is

Robert Denogent's Pouilly-Fuissé La Croix is an organic white wine with a protected designation of origin that precisely expresses the character of Burgundy. Made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes and aged on the lees, it presents in the glass with a brilliant straw-yellow colour and luminous golden reflections. On the nose, clear floral and fruity aromas emerge, a prelude to a harmonious, fresh sip characterised by a distinct mineral persistence. Its solid gustatory structure makes it ideal for pairing with shellfish dishes, lean fish, poultry, vegetarian recipes and cheese selections.

Where it comes from

This wine has its roots in Fuissé, a renowned village in Burgundy. In this area, the Denogent family has been cultivating Chardonnay since the early 20th century, maintaining a constant focus on soil health. The grapes come from old vines over forty years old, managed with a rigorous sustainable approach. This production philosophy allows the grape variety to develop a clear territorial adherence, providing a pure expression of Pouilly-Fuissé, based on mineral evidence and respect for the land.

How it is produced

The process begins with a spontaneous fermentation conducted by indigenous yeasts, respecting the natural integrity of the fruit. Subsequently, the wine undergoes a long ageing on the lees for nineteen months, a fundamental step to provide breadth and a firm gustatory structure. To keep the vibrancy and expressive identity intact, bottling takes place strictly without filtration or fining. The result is a sip with a long and persistent finish, reflecting a process that is attentive to the raw material.

From this winery
At the beginning of the 20th century, the Denogent family, originally from Fuissé, started the wine business. Andrée Robert, née Ddenogent, grandmother of Antoine and Nicolas, owns 5 ha of vines. Although the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation has not yet been declared, she knows that the terroirs have potential and that by respecting these generous soils and this wonderful Chardonnay, the wines produced will be exceptional.

Jean-Jacques Robert, Andrée's son, takes over the reins in 1989. The estate changes its name and becomes Robert-Denogent in homage to his ancestors. Jean-Jacques continues in the same vein, always a gourmand and eager to share his wines with his friends. He gradually increases the surface area of vines.

Nicolas, the eldest son, returns to the estate in 2006. He does more than support his father by bringing his vision of wine. Antoine, Nicolas' brother, joined the estate in 2012. In 2015, Jean-Jacques passed the baton... while remaining close to his sons.
