Description

What type of wine it is

Giuseppe Quintarelli's Bianco Secco is a still white wine with a Veneto Typical Geographical Indication (IGT) born from a blend of Chardonnay, Garganega, Sauvignon and Trebbiano grapes. In the glass, it presents a straw-yellow colour enlivened by golden highlights, revealing delicate aromas of ripe fruit, with clear notes of apricot and yellow-fleshed peach. On the palate, it is fresh, well-balanced and supported by a fair acidity, offering a long aromatic persistence. Its production involves an exceptional and slow ageing in large wooden barrels, a rare technique for this type of wine, which gives the sip elegance and stability over time.

Where it comes from

This Venetian oenological expression comes to life in the historic terroir of the Negrar hills, in the heart of Valpolicella. The vineyards of the Giuseppe Quintarelli winery are rooted at an altitude of approximately 350 metres above sea level, surrounded by an authentic rural landscape. This hillside position allows for the harvesting of ripe grapes while maintaining an acidity that is never aggressive. These microclimatic and territorial conditions are fundamental for shaping a white wine with a distinct personality, in which the balanced acidity and complex structure faithfully reflect the authenticity and vocation of the area of origin.

How it is produced

The production process of Bianco Secco is distinguished by artisanal dedication and extraordinary patience. After the harvest and fermentation, the wine undergoes an exceptionally long maturation of eight years, taking place slowly within large wooden barrels. This rare and meticulous ageing allows the blend to evolve, developing incredible stability and remarkable aromatic complexity. Subsequently, the wine completes its ageing by resting for a further period in the bottle before being ready for tasting, proving to be an excellent companion for pasta courses, lean fish recipes or refined cheese selections.

History and curiosities

Quintarelli Bianco Secco embodies the dedication of a historic winery, founded by the Quintarelli family and in continuous operation since 1900. The vines take root in the authentic rural landscape of the Negrar hills in Valpolicella, at an altitude of approximately three hundred and fifty metres. This distinguished winery faithfully follows rigorous practices handed down since the beginning of the last century. The excellence of every sip is guaranteed by a lengthy eight-year ageing period in large wooden barrels, an artisanal technique that is extremely rare for this style of wine.

The company is located in the foothills of Negrar approximately 350 meters above sea level. The landscape is typical of Valpolicella with its vineyards, olive groves and cherry trees, an air almost of another era, a rurality that was in danger of being lost, but thanks to people like 'El Bepi' it has been preserved. His grandson Francesco said that the wines are still made the way his grandfather made them by ageing and maturing them slowly for eight years in large wooden barrels and in bottles. Read more
