Description

Wine Style

The Krettnacher Echariusberg Riesling Kabinett by Hofgut Falkenstein is a still white wine that expresses the potential of Riesling grapes with extraordinary purity. This artisanal cuvée, hailing from the renowned Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region, is distinguished by a fragrant and bright aromatic profile, with clear notes of green apple and citrus. On the palate, it is fresh and juicy, with a linear style that balances the natural sweetness of the fruit with a vibrant and lively acidity. The finish is savoury and persistent, confirming the absolute precision and elegance of this fine German Kabinett.

Origin

This Riesling originates in the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer territory, specifically in the prestigious area of Krettnacher Euchariusberg. The vineyards are cultivated with a rigorous approach aimed at enhancing the identity of the soil, as the specific pedoclimatic conditions give the grapes a distinct minerality, an unmistakable trait of the region's best expressions. This strong territorial imprint shapes a wine of great precision and grace, typical of the style of this renowned appellation.

Production Method

The production of this artisanal wine aims to keep the integrity of the fruit intact, preserving the natural aromatic vivacity of the variety. The vinification is carefully managed to enhance the original delicate sweetness of the grapes, supported by a vibrant natural acidity. The techniques adopted in the cellar avoid invasive interventions, focusing on the balance between sweetness and acidity without altering the structure of the palate. This approach ensures perfect drinkability and gives the wine significant ageing potential, allowing it to evolve in the bottle while maintaining freshness and complexity.

From this winery
Erich Weber of Hofgut Falkenstein makes ultra-traditional, dry-tasting Saar Rieslings. He likes to call himself "Winzer Weber." (Winzer is German for winegrower.) In other words, the emphasis is on the work in his vineyards, where he spends most of his days. With his tan and rugged face, he looks the part, too. Since his middle son, Johannes, has joined him full-time, there has been more of a focus on Rieslings with residual sugar. In recent years, their wines have also caught the attention of critics, both in and outside Germany. Read more
