Description

Wine type

Iancura by Hauner is a still white wine with a Terre Siciliane Typical Geographical Indication (IGT), aged in stainless steel. This blend of Malvasia and Inzolia expresses a fresh, vertical, and distinctly savoury taste profile. On the nose, it offers a multi-faceted bouquet featuring aromas of white flowers, apple, and gooseberry, enriched by vegetal hints of sage and celery, along with clear marine and mineral nuances. On the palate, it is taut and vibrant, balancing a delicate acidity with a long saline persistence that accompanies a fluid and smooth finish, ideal for pairing with raw seafood, sardine-based dishes, or soft cheeses.

Origin

The roots of this wine are found in the territory of Santa Marina di Salina, in the heart of the Aeolian Islands. The vineyards are located at an altitude between fifty and one hundred metres, on steep volcanic soils rich in pumice, organic matter, and mineral elements. The significant slopes, which reach nearly thirty-five per cent, influence the wine's flavour development, giving it a distinct saline character. The interaction between the island climate and the constant influence of sea breezes defines the bold and vibrant expression of this label.

Production process

Production begins at the end of August with a meticulous harvest, followed by rapid transport to the cellar. The grapes are immediately drained, a technical choice aimed at preserving the maximum aromatic purity of the varieties. To keep the gustatory tension intact, fermentation and subsequent ageing in stainless steel last for six months. The evolution concludes with a further three months in the bottle, an essential step to harmonise the lively fruity notes with the deep brackish vein, ensuring a persistent and balanced sip.

History and interesting facts

Born in Santa Marina di Salina, this fascinating white wine preserves the precious legacy of the Hauner winery, founded in 1968. Its name evokes the Aeolian “whiteness”, celebrating the poetic encounter between sky and sea. Carlo Junior and the winemaker Andrea passionately cultivate twenty hectares of steep volcanic soils, located at an altitude of between fifty and a hundred metres. Defying extreme gradients of thirty-five per cent, the family renews the great island tradition, encapsulating the soul of the Aeolian Islands in one hundred and twenty thousand exclusive bottles per year.
