Description
Type of wine
The Primitivo Puglia IGT by Feudi di San Gregorio is a still red wine that embodies the essence of the namesake grape variety grown in Puglia. In the glass, it displays a deep and intense ruby red colour. The aromatic profile is dominated by hints of plum jam and raspberries, enhanced by sweet notes of cinnamon. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety, with soft, round tannins that accompany a long, warm, and pleasantly fruity finish. Vinification involves fermentation and maceration in stainless steel, ideal for preserving the freshness and intensity of the fruit.
Origin
The grapes for this wine come from the renowned Manduria area, with vineyards distributed between the provinces of Brindisi and Taranto, in the heart of Puglia. The vines take root in mineral-rich red soils, with the presence of specific areas of volcanic origin that give the wine a characteristic and pleasant mineral savouriness. The climate of the area is characterised by significant temperature variations, a key factor that encourages the optimal development of aromas and the full aromatic ripening of the bunches.
Production method
Production begins with fermentation and maceration in stainless steel, a method chosen to enhance the clarity of the aromas and preserve the typical colour of Primitivo. Subsequently, the wine undergoes a six-month maturation period in steel tanks. This phase is followed by a further six months of bottle ageing before release. This process ensures a soft and well-balanced structure, making the wine perfect for pairing with grilled red meats, savoury game stews, and mature cheeses.
