Description
What type of wine it is
Puntay Pinot Noir Riserva is a still red wine with a Controlled Designation of Origin, produced by Erste+Neue in Alto Adige from Pinot Noir grapes. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in oak barrels, it stands out for its elegant style, with a bouquet of cherry, redcurrant, cocoa and a floral background. On the palate, it is juicy and clean, supported by a balanced structure, distinct acidity and elegant tannins. The harmonious finish makes it ideal for pairing with roasts, game and savoury seafood dishes.
Where it comes from
This Pinot Noir originates in Alto Adige, from vines grown at medium altitudes in the renowned Puntay vineyard. The roots reach into sandy soils with a strong limestone component and deep layers of gravel, which give the wine an extraordinary aromatic clarity. The alpine-continental climate promotes steady ripening, essential for preserving the integrity of the bunches. The Erste+Neue winery manages its vineyards following the principles of sustainable viticulture, protecting natural resources to offer a pure representation of the terroir.
How it is produced
Production begins with manual harvesting and careful selection of the grapes. Vinification involves a traditional maceration of twelve days, with the partial use of whole bunches to achieve greater complexity. After fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, useful for preserving the freshness of the fruit, the wine matures in oak barrels for approximately eighteen months. This is followed by a period of rest away from light which consolidates a significant ageing potential, allowing the wine to evolve beautifully over time.

ERSTE+NEUE has been exploring new avenues for more than a century, combining Alto Adige wine culture and tradition with innovation. Throughout this journey, we have dared quite a few first ascents and in doing so have written Alto Adige wine history.

Today ERSTE+NEUE stands for top alpine wines, pressed in harmony with nature using not only the latest technology but also drawing on the experience and love of experimentation demonstated by previous generations. inery that was rich in both tradition and renown.
