Description

What kind of wine it is

Domaine A.F. Gros Richebourg Grand Cru is a still red wine that embodies the essence of Burgundy Pinot Noir. To the eye, it shows an intense ruby red colour, a prelude to a structured and complex olfactory profile. On the nose, hints of wild violet and blackcurrant are revealed, enriched by elegant notes of vanilla and spice. On the palate, an impeccable balance between power and finesse emerges, where a solid structure meets vibrant acidity. The tasting is deep and characterised by an intense concentration of small red fruits, culminating in an extremely long and persistent finish.

Where it comes from

This wine is born in the heart of Vosne-Romanée, within the famous Côte de Nuits. The Richebourg area, historically classified as Grand Cru, is known for the production of opulent and extraordinarily long-lived reds. The vines sink their roots into a limestone-gravelly soil with moderate clay infiltrations and a thin surface layer. This geological conformation is directly reflected in the glass, guaranteeing a dense and defined gustatory texture, capable of combining the vivacity of the fruit with a rigorous aromatic precision.

How it is produced

The processing of the grapes for this red is geared towards preserving the complexity of the terroir of origin through careful vinification. The production process avoids systematic filtering, a fundamental choice to keep the gustatory substance intact and the maximum definition of the aromas. To allow the bouquet to fully express its elegance, decanting for about an hour before serving is recommended. This step enhances the structural balance and highlights the solidity of a wine endowed with exceptional ageing potential.

From this winery
Anne Gros, the only daughter of François Gros, has established a solid character and reputation in the wine world after taking over her father’s domaine in 1988.

At 25 years old, Anne saw the family domaine grow from 3 to 6.5 ha. Recently, she invested in a new cellar. She is a winegrower suspicious of certitude and fastidious about maintaining her freedom.

As a female winegrower, Anne knew how to prove herself and convince all who doubted her ability to manage a domaine. She showed that she had not only the shoulders but the head to make her family heritage one of the greatest domaines of Burgundy.

In 1984 she had to stop studying Arts to study vines’culture and oenology in Beaune and Dijon. Now her passion for vine and wine as well as her talent, sensitivity and professionalism position her as a winemaker amateurs can rely on.

A mother of 3 children, Anne spends all her time working at the Domaine and taking care of her family.
