Description
What type of wine it is
Chateau de Reignac Bordeaux Superieur from Reignac is a still red wine that expresses the character of the renowned Bordeaux wine region. This blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc falls under the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation and stands out for its structured and harmonious profile. On the nose, it offers clear aromas of blackcurrant and plum, enriched by delicate woody notes, while on the palate, it reveals a creamy and elegant texture, a result of ageing in oak barrels. The soft, enveloping tannins accompany a long and savoury finish, perfect for pairing with grilled meats and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
Chateau de Reignac originates from France, in the heart of the Bordeaux region, specifically in the Entre-Deux-Mers territory. The estate covers eighty hectares characterised by clay-limestone and clay-gravel soils, which provide the vines with ideal conditions for proper development. The vineyards, with an average age of thirty years and high planting density, benefit from sustainable and certified farming practices. These unique geological features and low yields per hectare allow for a highly concentrated harvest, capable of infusing the wine with a deep sense of place.
How it is produced
The winemaking begins with a careful hand-harvesting of the grapes, which undergo a rigorous double selection process, both before and after destemming. The process continues with cold maceration to preserve the aromas, followed by traditional alcoholic fermentation and subsequent malolactic fermentation. Once this stage is complete, the wine is transferred to begin its maturation journey. Ageing in French oak barrels lasts for twelve months, ensuring full aromatic expression and perfect integration of the structural components before bottling.
