Description
Style and Profile
Casalforte Corvina from Cantine Riondo is a Venetian red wine with a Typical Geographical Indication (IGT) status that perfectly expresses the essence of the Verona territory. Made from Corvina grapes, vinified using the Ganimede Method and aged in stainless steel and barrels, it offers a dry and enveloping style on the palate, supported by a medium body and finely integrated tannins. The aromatic bouquet is layered and clean, with distinct notes of ripe cherry, blackberry and plum, enriched by hints of black pepper, cinnamon and a light touch of vanilla. The tasting experience is always balanced and concludes with a pleasant almond note and a subtle bitter nuance.
Origin
The grapes for this wine come from Valpolicella, specifically from the rolling hills surrounding Monteforte d’Alpone. This territory benefits from limestone and volcanic soils with excellent drainage, ideal for promoting balanced vine growth. Optimal sun exposure and constant ventilation, combined with a continental climate tempered by the proximity of Lake Garda, ensure impeccable phenolic ripeness. The Casalforte brand pays tribute to the ancient fortified rural farmsteads, highlighting the historical vocation of this specific area.
Winemaking
Production begins between late September and October with the hand-harvesting of grapes at perfect ripeness. Vinification takes place using the Ganimede Method, which ensures a gentle and continuous mixing of the must and skins, promoting a calibrated extraction of colour and polyphenols. The wine then rests for twelve months: one part is aged in stainless steel to maintain the vibrancy of the fruit, while the rest matures in oak barrels to acquire further depth and structure. To best enhance its qualities, serving at a temperature of 16–18 °C is recommended.
