Description

What type of wine it is

Vertis Borgo Paglianetto is a still white wine of excellent character, an authentic expression of Verdicchio from the Marche region. This Verdicchio di Matelica offers an elegant and structured profile, characterised by an exuberant freshness well-balanced by a pleasant smoothness. On the palate, it is dynamic, with an intense savoury drive and a long, dense finish that recalls the varietal notes. On the nose, it presents a wide olfactory range, where vegetal sensations, hints of medlar, lime, and peach stand out, enriched by medicinal herbs and a rich mineral and smoky vein. Its complexity makes it a wine of remarkable depth.

Where it comes from

This Verdicchio originates in the municipality of Matelica, in the heart of the Marche, in a territory particularly suited to viticulture. The vineyards, with an average age of 35 years, are situated at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level, benefiting from a south-facing exposure that ensures optimal ripening of the grapes. The clay-limestone soil contributes decisively to giving the wine its distinct minerality and structure.

How it is produced

The production of this wine follows careful methods to preserve its purity and aromatic intensity. After the harvest, which takes place in October, the grapes undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. This fundamental step enhances the fresh and fruity characteristics of the grape variety. Subsequently, the wine undergoes a long ageing period: it rests for 15 months in steel, developing complexity without altering its primary nature, and then completes its journey with a further 4 months in the bottle before being ready for tasting.

The history of Borgo Paglianetto has its roots in ancient times. From historical sources it appears that the territory of Matelica was already inhabited at the time of the ancient Romans. The tradition of viticulture has been handed down through the centuries up to the present day. Borgo Paglianetto, with its 25 hectares, extends over the hills of Matelica in the area between Fabriano and Camerino. A territory that thanks to a particular microclimate gives wines with a good structure, but also freshness and aromatic balance. The estate has recently converted the cultivations to organic farming, continuing on the path of research of the highest quality while respecting nature. Read more
