Description

What kind of wine it is

Zorzettig Schioppettino is a Friulian red wine made from Schioppettino grapes in the Colli Orientali del Friuli. In the glass, it displays a deep red colour that, over time, evolves towards elegant garnet hues. The aromatic profile is intense and complex, characterised by balsamic and spicy notes with a distinct hint of black pepper, enriched by toasted nuances derived from ageing in barrels. On the palate, it is full, bold and enveloping, with a structure that allows it to evolve over time. This wine pairs excellently with meat dishes, pork and mature cheeses. It is recommended to decant it for about an hour and serve it at a slightly cool temperature.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in the area of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. The Zorzettig vineyards are managed as true reserves of biodiversity, cultivated according to the principles of sustainable viticulture. The vines, trained using the Guyot system, benefit from a favourable east-west exposure that ensures optimal ripening. Thanks to a density of four thousand five hundred vines per hectare and a limited yield, the agronomic management guarantees a raw material of the highest quality, capable of expressing the authentic identity of the Friulian terroir.

How it is produced

The production process begins with meticulous harvesting of the grapes in the estate's vineyards. The vinification, overseen by oenologist Saverio Di Giacomo, follows a methodology aimed at preserving the integrity of the fruit at every stage. Maturation takes place in barrels, a fundamental step that allows the typical spicy notes of Schioppettino to integrate with the toasted aromas of the wood, defining a rich and profound flavour profile. To allow the bouquet to express itself at its best, decanting before serving is essential, maintaining a cool temperature as suggested by the producer.
