Description

What kind of wine it is

Romagna Albana Secco by Zavalloni is a still white wine with Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin from Emilia-Romagna, a pure expression of the Albana grape variety, matured in steel. Visually, it displays a bright straw yellow hue, enhanced by golden reflections, while the aromatic profile is intense and persistent, characterised by elegant notes of cyclamen and jasmine. On the palate, the entry is structured, highlighting a pronounced softness and roundness. This richness is balanced by a refreshing and intense savouriness, leading to a finish enlivened by a delicate tannic touch.

Where it comes from

The grapes are grown on the hills of Cesena, cultivated by the Zavalloni family for six generations within the Romagna Albana area. The fruit comes from historic plots, Vigna delle Noci and Vigna Sotto il Bosco, characterised by old vines planted between the late 1970s and early 1980s. The south and south-west exposure ensures optimal ripening of the Albana bunches. This terroir imparts a solid structure and a long-lasting flavour, while maintaining the vibrancy of the sip.

How it is produced

The Albana rows are managed using the double Guyot system, aimed at promoting high-quality harvests. After vinification, the wine undergoes maturation in steel for four months. During this phase, the practice of bâtonnage on the lees is fundamental to enrich the wine in terms of softness and complexity. This process preserves the expressive clarity of the grape variety, enhancing its natural freshness and making it ideal to accompany shellfish, fish dishes and soft cheeses.

History and Curiosities

The result of six generations of passion on the hills of Cesena, the Romagna Albana DOCG by Zavalloni is a true tribute to tradition. The grapes, vinified in purity, come from old historic vineyards planted between 1975 and 1980, trained with the double Guyot system and facing South-West. These historic plots include the renowned Vigna delle noci and the Vigna sotto il bosco.

The Zavalloni family's philosophy is expressed through its deeply rooted love of wine and their land.

The passion and careful attention which Fabio and his son Stefano dedicate to the vineyards comes to fruition in the production of high quality wines that represent the purest expression of the land of Romagna.

Today, the Zavalloni farm benefits from both ancient traditions and the use of modern wine-making technologies.
