Description
What kind of wine it is
Von der Mark Riesling Spätlese is a still, semi-aromatic white wine that enhances the character of German Riesling grapes. This expression perfectly embodies the Spätlese style. On the nose, it opens with inviting floral aromas, while on the palate it is lively and balanced, supported by a pronounced mineral tension that accompanies a pleasant persistence.
Where it comes from
This elegant white originates in the heart of Baden, within the renowned Tuniberg area. Here, the Von der Mark winery operates, a producer focused on technical precision and total respect for the fruit. The characteristics of the soil give the grapes a distinctive profile, allowing for wines of great expressive authenticity, marked by a clear and measured style.
How it is produced
Production involves the use of grapes selected through late harvesting, a practice that encourages the development of remarkable flavour complexity. The meticulous work in the winery aims to preserve the purity of the fruit and its natural freshness, ensuring the wine has significant ageing potential, estimated between five and ten years. Served between 12 and 14°C, this white pairs beautifully with fish and shellfish dishes, and elegantly enhances the flavours of cheeses as well.

His own project took shape in 2003, when he leased his first vineyard on the Tuniberg—an old parcel that became the core of his winemaking identity. The early years were nomadic and artisanal: grapes fermented in the cellars of fellow winemakers, then in a small gewölbekeller in Rheinweiler, later in a former butcher’s shop adapted as a winery.
Since 2011, the estate has found its home in the industrial area of Rheinweiler, a quiet space where time moves slowly and every decision is guided by respect for the fruit. Here, Jürgen—Geisenheim‑trained oenologist and Master of Wine—crafts wines shaped by precision, calmness, and a deep sense of place.
Von der Mark remains a small, devoted estate, where the producer’s personal journey meets the mineral tension of the Tuniberg and a philosophy rooted in authenticity. Read more
