Description
What kind of wine it is
Villa Raiano Greco di Tufo is a still white wine from Campania, made from Greco grapes, which clearly expresses the character of its territory. On the nose, it presents an aromatic profile defined by Golden apple notes, sage, and delicate floral hints. On the palate, it offers a dry taste, characterised by a sharp freshness and a pronounced mineral progression. The sip is agile and well-structured, finishing with a distinctive almondy finish that invites another glass and pairs perfectly with fish dishes.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from Irpinia, cultivated in the municipalities of Montefusco, Tufo, Altavilla Irpina, and Chianche, areas renowned for Greco di Tufo. The vineyards are located at an altitude of over five hundred metres, rooted in clay and limestone soils enriched with volcanic ash. This terroir ensures significant temperature variations between day and night, a key factor in the development of the aromatic profile. The vines, trained using the Guyot system, benefit from these conditions, giving the wine a vibrant saline texture and remarkable structure.
How it is produced
The grapes are hand-harvested in October. In the winery, a gentle pressing of the whole bunches is carried out, extracting only the purest free-run must. After static settling, fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature to preserve the aromatic freshness. Maturation continues in steel, where the wine rests on the fine lees for several months, a fundamental step that enhances its balance and overall persistence.
