Description
What kind of wine it is
Villa Antinori Bianco is a still wine that expresses Tuscan character through a blend of Trebbiano, Malvasia Toscana, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio and Riesling Renano. The bouquet weaves together elegant scents of acacia and jasmine with sweet notes of pineapple, banana and candied fruit. On the palate, it is well-balanced, offering a soft and savoury texture that culminates in a persistent mineral finish, enriched by hints of yellow fruit. This pronounced liveliness makes it ideal to pair with delicate first courses and fish-based recipes, as well as making it an excellent aperitif.
Where it comes from
The roots of this wine lie in the Florentine territory, near the historic Villa Cigliano, a residence linked to the Antinori family since the 14th century. This Tuscan white embodies the winegrowing identity of the region, bringing the vocation of its hills to the glass. Originally created in 1931 by Niccolò Antinori, it offers a precise and authentic interpretation of the terroir. The meticulous work in the vineyard focuses on the interaction between the soils and the selected varieties, allowing the grapes to express their territorial qualities with utmost purity.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a staggered harvest: picking starts in early September with Pinot Grigio, continues with Pinot Bianco, Trebbiano and Malvasia Toscana, and concludes in October with Riesling Renano. In the winery, the bunches are destemmed and subjected to very gentle pressing. The must is cooled to ten degrees to encourage natural clarification, then transferred to steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature. The wine matures in steel at low temperatures and is managed in small batches until just before bottling, in order to preserve its aromatic integrity.
History and Curiosities
Villa Antinori Bianco has its roots in the historic Villa del Cigliano, the cradle of the family's winemaking tradition since 1385. Introduced in 1931 by Niccolò Antinori, this renowned Tuscan white wine represents the perfect synthesis between a constant pursuit of quality and a deep respect for the land. The label, which has remained virtually unchanged for almost a century, depicts the ancient residence and is the historic symbol of a production philosophy that skilfully combines contemporary evolution with a centuries-old heritage.

The Antinori family’s first encounter with wine dates back to 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Guild of Wine Merchants to make the best use of the family’s country properties in Valdarno, around Florence.
However, it was not until the 16th century that banker and merchant Alessandro Antinori made the wine from his estates famous in Italy and abroad, travelling from Lyons to Flanders, and from Spain to Algiers.
Wine was to remain the family’s passion and main business activity, so much so that in 1898 the "Fattoria dei Marchesi Lodovico e Piero Antinori" was created by brothers Lodovico and Piero, the sons of Marchese Niccolò – a direct descendent of that other Niccolò who purchased Palazzo Antinori in 1506 and poured his efforts into publicising Tuscan wines around the world and creating fine quality products. For 26 generations the Antinori family have continued to make history.
In 2023, at the beginning of February, Villa Antinori Toscana IGT 2019 was named the third wine in the world, the only Italian wine, in Wine Specator's Top 10 Values 2022: the list of the 10 wines that according to the American magazine represent world excellence in terms of value for money.
