Description

What kind of wine it is

Vigne Piemontesi Barbaresco is a still red wine that expresses the authenticity of the Nebbiolo grape variety. Produced by Vigne Piemontesi, it presents a ruby red colour with bright garnet highlights. On the nose, it offers an intense aromatic profile, with fragrant notes of morello cherry and delicate floral hints of violet. On the palate, it reveals itself as a rich and persistent wine, capable of enveloping the senses before finishing with a smooth and spicy aftertaste. This interpretation of Barbaresco boasts a remarkable aptitude for ageing, able to evolve elegantly in the cellar for several years.

Where it comes from

The roots of this red wine lie in the heart of Piedmont, on the hills of the Langhe. The origin of the grapes encompasses the areas of Barbaresco, Neive and Treiso, regions renowned for the cultivation of Nebbiolo. The vineyards are situated on calcareous-clay marl, mineral-rich soils that allow the vines to develop bunches of profound complexity. This particular geological composition balances the savoury component with aromatic intensity, giving the wine an unmistakable territorial character that perfectly defines the identity of this prestigious area.

How it is produced

Production begins with a manual harvest and careful selection of the bunches between late September and mid-October. After crushing and destemming, the must undergoes alcoholic fermentation for a period ranging from ten to twenty days, followed by malolactic fermentation which harmonises its structure. The wine then rests for at least twenty-six months in barriques and in large Slavonian oak casks, a maturation that shapes its classic elegance. If decanted for about an hour, it becomes the ideal companion for red meats and game, braised dishes, stews and mature cheeses.

History and Curiosities

The Barbaresco DOCG 2022 from Vigne Piemontesi enhances the essence of pure Nebbiolo cultivated on the prized hills of the Langhe. Born from hand-selected grapes grown on soils rich in calcareous-clay marl, this elegant red comes to life thanks to meticulous vinification and 26 months of ageing in barriques and Slavonian oak barrels. Awarded 91 points by Decanter and James Suckling, it offers a captivating experience, supported by an extraordinary ageing potential capable of evolving beautifully for up to ten years.
