Description
What kind of wine it is
Vietti Barbera d’Alba Vigna Scarrone is an organic red wine that precisely expresses the soul of the Barbera grape. Characterised by a deep ruby colour, it offers aromas of ripe red and black cherries, accompanied by hints of vanilla and sweet spices. On the palate, it stands out for its full and dry body, supported by a lively freshness that enhances its gustatory complexity. Thanks to its impeccable balance and persistent finish, it is the ideal companion for roasts, game and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
This Piedmontese red originates from the municipality of Castiglione Falletto, in one of the most renowned areas for Barbera d’Alba. The grapes are grown in the prestigious Scarrone vineyard, which benefits from a favourable south-east exposure, an ideal condition for optimal and consistent ripening of the bunches. Vietti works these lands with a constant commitment to organic sustainability and environmental protection. The result is an authentic narrative of the Langhe region, the fruit of artisanal care that accompanies every stage in the vineyard.
How it is produced
Production begins with manual harvesting, followed by a cold pre-fermentation maceration. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in open steel vats for about two weeks, with frequent punching down and pumping over of the must. This is followed by malolactic fermentation in barrels, a fundamental step in refining the wine’s structure. The process concludes with eighteen months of ageing, carried out between steel and wooden barrels. This careful process shapes an elegant profile, able to combine the richness of ripe fruit with a vibrant acidic tension.
History and Curiosities
