Description
What kind of wine is it
Pinot Grigio Dessimis Vie di Romans is a still white wine, aged in barrels, which expresses the authenticity of Friuli Isonzo. In the glass, it displays a bright straw yellow hue, enhanced by the classic grey-copper reflections typical of the Pinot Grigio grape. The bouquet weaves together fruity notes of wild strawberries and grapefruit with sweet nuances of wisteria and dog rose, completed by subtle hints of sage, ginger and white pepper. On the palate, the sip is smooth and harmonious, supported by a balanced structure that leads to a long, savoury persistence.
Where does it come from
The grapes are grown in the Dessimis vineyard in Mariano del Friuli, in the Rive Alte area. The rows benefit from optimal exposure at low altitude, ensuring regular ripening of the vines. The subsoil is characterised by shallow, well-drained soil, with abundant stones and a reddish clay fraction rich in iron and aluminium oxides. This distinctive geology gives the wine a pronounced savoury character, essential for balancing vibrant freshness and fullness of flavour.
How is it produced
Harvesting takes place between the end of August and the beginning of September. In the winery, the destemmed grapes undergo a cold maceration on the skins. Fermentation continues for eighteen days at a controlled temperature to preserve the fragrance of the aromas. After static clarification, the wine undergoes a crucial ageing on the lees in barrels for nine months, a process that enriches its tactile texture. By avoiding malolactic fermentation, a dry and taut profile is maintained, further refined by a delicate final rest.
