Description
What kind of wine it is
Piere Sauvignon Blanc is a still white wine produced by Vie di Romans in Friuli Isonzo. Its brilliant appearance heralds a clear bouquet of gooseberry, green pepper and tropical fruit such as pineapple and papaya, enhanced by delicate notes of white flowers and citrus. On the palate, it offers a dense and juicy sip, able to balance its significant structure with a pleasant acidic freshness. The finish, long, savoury and vibrant, makes it the ideal pairing for fish dishes and Asian cuisine.
Where it comes from
This Sauvignon Blanc originates in Mariano del Friuli, within the historic Piere vineyard. The vine roots delve into gravelly soils that are well-drained, characterised by a clay component rich in silica, fundamental elements that give the wine a pronounced mineral character. The vines, trained using the Guyot system with a north-south orientation at around thirty-three metres altitude, grow in ideal pedoclimatic conditions. Low yields ensure the harvest of fruit with great aromatic concentration and extraordinary expressive precision.
How it is produced
The grapes, harvested at the end of August, undergo a cold skin maceration to maximise aroma extraction. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation. Afterwards, the wine matures for seven months on its lees to acquire structure and complexity, concluding the process with a final rest of ten months that perfectly harmonises volume and flavour clarity.
