Description
What kind of wine it is
Vezzoli's Franciacorta Brut is an elegant sparkling wine from Lombardy, born from the skilful blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Produced according to the strict rules of the Traditional Method, it reveals a deep and refined sensory profile. In the glass, it stands out for its very fine perlage, which precedes intense aromas and a dry, fresh sip. On the palate, it is harmonious and well-structured, characterised by a clear acidity and a clean, persistent finish. Served chilled, this wine pairs beautifully with light first courses, fish, shellfish and cheese selections.
Where it comes from
This sparkling wine originates in Lombardy, in Erbusco, at the heart of Franciacorta. The wine is the result of the dedication of the Vezzoli winery, active since 1994 with organic and sustainable management. The vineyards cover sixty-three hectares, ensuring careful selection for targeted production. The authentic connection with the land and agricultural rigour have enabled this label to stand out in the wine scene, earning the coveted two red stars from Veronelli.
How it is produced
The production process begins with meticulous manual harvesting, selecting whole bunches to maintain the ideal acid balance. Following the protocol of the Traditional Method, the prise de mousse takes place through secondary fermentation in the bottle, followed by ageing on the lees for at least thirty-six months, essential for the development of aromatic complexity. A distinctive technical aspect, overseen by oenologist Cesare Ferrari, is the exclusive use of grape must for the tirage and final dosage, with no added exogenous sugars. The result boasts an ageing potential of between five and ten years.
History and Curiosities
Born in Erbusco from the passion of the Vezzoli family, this Franciacorta has represented artisanal excellence since 1994. The grapes, meticulously hand-picked, give life to an extraordinary Millesimato Brut 2020 of remarkable harmony. The prise de mousse and final dosage are carried out using only grape must, with no added exogenous sugars, in order to preserve the integrity of the terroir. Thanks to bottle fermentation, the wine matures on the lees for at least 36 months, developing an extremely fine perlage and intense aromas, already awarded two Veronelli stars.
