Description
What kind of wine it is
Champagne Cuvée R Vertus by Veuve Fourny & Fils is a Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru with a dry character and great precision. Produced using the Traditional Method, it appears in the glass with a straw yellow colour and a fine, persistent perlage. The aromatic profile is elegant and complex, characterised by pronounced citrus and fruity notes that blend harmoniously with hints of yeast, bread crust, brioche and mineral nuances. On the palate, it offers a silky and velvety texture, culminating in a clean and crisp finish. This Extra Brut expresses its qualities best when paired with seafood starters, shellfish, fine white truffle and mature or soft cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes for this label are grown in Vertus, a renowned village located in the Côte des Blancs, within the famous Champagne region. In this specific area, the vineyards benefit from Premier Cru classification and include the prestigious plots of Clos Faubourg Notre-Dame. The chalky terroir and favourable microclimate provide the ideal environment for cultivating Chardonnay, ensuring a deep mineral imprint and pronounced flavour tension. Veuve Fourny & Fils works to enhance the freshness and aromatic clarity of its vineyards, delivering in the glass a faithful and direct expression of its place of origin.
How it is produced
The creation of this wine involves the exclusive use of first-press juices obtained from Chardonnay. The must is vinified entirely in small oak barrels, where it rests for eighteen months. To preserve the structure and authenticity of the taste, the winery avoids any filtration. Subsequently, the prise de mousse follows the strict rules of the Traditional Method, accompanied by a long ageing on the lees of at least four years in cool underground cellars. This meticulous production process and the low sugar dosage give the wine remarkable ageing potential, which can extend from ten to fifteen years.

From our grandfather Albert and his son Roger and Madame Veuve Fourny, we have inherited know-how as well as ancient vineyards, including the Clos Faubourg Notre - Dame, a rarity in Champagne.
Us brothers took over the Family House in 1993. Through our personal experiences and our very different personalities, we have jointly decided the style of our cuvées.
Our collection of Champagnes highlights our Premier Cru terroir of the Côte des Blancs in a curated style, with an equal share of elegance and freshness. We do our best, from the vineyards right to the cellars, to extract the purest expression of the grapes and the terroir in order to produce champagne with a low dosage. Read more
