Description
What kind of wine it is
The Champagne Premier Cru Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut from Veuve Fourny & Fils is a Traditional Method sparkling wine with an elegant and vibrant profile, made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. The palate is characterised by a creamy texture well balanced by a pronounced acidic tension, culminating in a savoury and saline finish. The fine and persistent perlage enhances the mineral aromas that precede the tasting. Thanks to its Extra Brut nature and the freshness of the grape variety, this wine is ideal for accompanying delicate starters, shellfish, raw fish dishes such as sushi and sashimi, as well as selected cheeses.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Vertus, an area located in the historic Côte des Blancs in Champagne. The Premier Cru vines grow on chalky soil, an essential matrix that imparts a marked mineral drive and a taut, linear drinkability. In this ideal context for Chardonnay, the Veuve Fourny & Fils estate cultivates its vineyards following organic and sustainable principles. The approach aims to capture the authentic identity of the terroir, ensuring an aromatic finesse that fully reflects the characteristics of these exceptional soils.
How it is produced
The process begins by selecting the cuvée from only the first pressing juice. Fermentation takes place mainly in stainless steel and partly in oak barrels, with a seven-month rest on the lees without filtration. The prise de mousse follows the strict rules of the Traditional Method. The final maturation takes place on the lees in the historic nineteenth-century cellars, at a low and constant temperature. These technical choices create a decisive drink, ensuring harmonious flavour development and stability over time.
History and Curiosities
Since 1856, the Veuve Fourny & Fils house has been producing excellent wines in the renowned Côte des Blancs. This exclusive Champagne Premier Cru is made from Chardonnay grapes grown organically on the renowned chalky soils of Vertus. The purity of the terroir is revealed thanks to the use of only the first pressing juice, partially vinified in fine oak barrels without filtration. The refined maturation on the lees in the historic nineteenth-century cellars shapes a creamy and vibrant profile, awarded 92 points by Robert Parker.

From our grandfather Albert and his son Roger and Madame Veuve Fourny, we have inherited know-how as well as ancient vineyards, including the Clos Faubourg Notre - Dame, a rarity in Champagne.
Us brothers took over the Family House in 1993. Through our personal experiences and our very different personalities, we have jointly decided the style of our cuvées.
Our collection of Champagnes highlights our Premier Cru terroir of the Côte des Blancs in a curated style, with an equal share of elegance and freshness. We do our best, from the vineyards right to the cellars, to extract the purest expression of the grapes and the terroir in order to produce champagne with a low dosage. Read more
