Description

Type of wine

Friulano Ronco delle Cime by Venica is a still white wine from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, which enhances the absolute purity of the Friulano grape variety. Belonging to the renowned Collio denomination, this golden-yellow wine reveals elegant aromas of apple, white peach and delicate wild herbs. On the palate, it expresses a vibrant freshness and a distinct sapidity, balanced by a full and harmonious body. The structured sip finally concludes with a long almond-tinged finish, expressing a mineral profile of great elegance.

Origin

The grapes are grown in Dolegna del Collio, in a prestigious territory that imparts an unmistakable character. The Ronco delle Cime vineyard is situated at an altitude of approximately two hundred metres, rooted in typical marl-sandstone soils of Eocene origin. This geological composition is fundamental for infusing the wine with a marked minerality and extraordinary clarity of taste. In this prime environment, the vine finds a perfect balance to develop its natural complexity, offering an authentic expression of the terroir.

Production

Production begins with cold maceration in oxygen-protected containers, recovering carbon dioxide from fermentation to limit the use of antioxidants. Subsequently, the must undergoes fermentation and ageing on the lees for about six months, split between large wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks to enhance aromaticity and volume. The careful creation of the blend precedes the final bottling, which takes place in perfect conjunction with the spring full moons.

History and curiosities

The historic family winery Venica & Venica, founded in 1930, embodies the authentic spirit of Collio. This exceptional Cru, established in 1999, comes from vines originally planted in 1974 in the famous Ronco delle Cime, a vineyard that underwent remodelling in 2005. The grape variety, historically known as Sauvignon Vert or Tocai Friulano, is processed using an innovative technique that recycles carbon dioxide to limit the use of antioxidants. Curiously, this prestigious wine is bottled in perfect conjunction with the spring full moons.
