Description
What kind of wine it is
Villa Angela Lacrima di Morro d’Alba, produced by Velenosi, is a still red wine that expresses the essence of this renowned Marche denomination. Made from Lacrima di Morro d’Alba grapes, it displays an intense ruby red colour enriched by bright violet highlights. The bouquet stands out for its clear fruity notes of strawberry and black cherry, combined with delicate floral hints of violet and rosebuds. On the palate, it shows a medium body and a rounded entry, supported by soft tannins. The finish reveals slight herbal nuances and a pleasant almond aftertaste, offering a harmonious, balanced experience consistent with its aromas.
Where it comes from
This red is born among the Marche hills in the Ascoli Piceno area, a region where Velenosi has operated since 1984. The vines grow at an altitude between 150 and 200 metres above sea level, rooting in mainly clay soils. The spurred cordon training system is designed to promote the perfect vegetative balance of the plant. These specific soil and climate conditions allow the Lacrima di Morro d’Alba grape to fully express its distinctive character, giving the wine an intense colour and an enveloping, smooth texture on the palate.
How it is produced
Production begins in mid-September with a manual harvest, followed by careful selection of the bunches. After destemming, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The must macerates on the skins for about twenty days through daily pump-overs carried out almost exclusively in closed tanks, a key technique for preserving the integrity of the aromatic bouquet. To best appreciate its floral nature, a one-hour decanting before serving is recommended. Thanks to its elegant structure, it pairs ideally with cured meat platters, flavourful first courses, cheeses, light meats and vegetarian dishes.
History and Curiosities
The story of the Velenosi winery began in Ascoli Piceno in 1984, driven by the passion of Angela and Ercole. The Villa Angela Lacrima di Morro d’Alba DOC 2022 celebrates this legacy by fully enhancing the characteristics of the grape variety. To preserve the integrity of the refined fruity and floral aromas, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, with a twenty-day maceration and closed pump-overs. In this way, the aromas of rose and violet are kept intact, offering a smooth red wine that tells the story of the Marche region.

The heart of the company is located in the historic city of Ascoli Piceno, which is located in the region Marche at a distance of about 20 km from Adriatic Sea and at a height of 150/200 m above sea level.
The company's farms extend across the hills that surround the splendid valley of the Tronto river, which, thanks to its clayey and fertile soils, has always been suited to the cultivation of vines.
In addition to the four companies located in Ascoli Piceno, Castorano, Monsampolo del Tronto and Castel di Lama, there is a vineyard in the area of Ancarano (TE) and in the area of San Marcello (AN), between the Castelli di Jesi.
Since the beginning, the winery has achieved great success with journalistic criticism published in the most renowned national and international newspapers such as: W, Robert Parker, Red shrimp, Luca Maroni, AIS and many others.
This is why it is present throughout the national territory with the collaboration of 85 agencies and abroad where it is present in 52 nations both in Europe and in the rest of the world.
Production to date is approximately 2.500.000 bottles and the expectations certainly don't stop there. Read more
