Description
What kind of wine it is
Passerina Villa Angela by Velenosi is a still white wine from the Marche region, made entirely from the Passerina grape variety. On the nose, it offers a fragrant bouquet, characterised by delicate floral notes and citrus hints of grapefruit and lemon, accompanied by scents of peach and green apple. On the palate, it reveals a light structure, supported by a subtle minerality that finishes with a pleasant and lively saline persistence.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the hills of the Tronto Valley, in the Ascoli Piceno area, about twenty kilometres from the Adriatic Sea. The vineyards are situated between one hundred and fifty and three hundred metres above sea level, constantly caressed by sea breezes. The calcareous soils, characterised by a medium texture tending towards sandy, provide the vines with the ideal environment to develop excellent aromatic precision and a defined savoury flavour.
How it is produced
The grapes are hand-harvested in mid-September, followed by a gentle pressing of the bunches and immediate cooling of the must to aid decantation. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, strictly maintained between thirteen and fifteen degrees. The subsequent maturation continues in steel at around ten degrees, lasting throughout the winter to preserve the original freshness of flavour.
History and Curiosities
Produced in Ascoli Piceno by the Velenosi winery, founded in 1984, this Passerina Marche IGT showcases a grape variety with ancient roots. Its unusual name comes from the shape of the bunch, resembling a small sparrow. Grown on hills overlooking the Adriatic, the grapes express a fascinating aromatic heritage, preserved thanks to a fresh maturation in steel. Among scents of white flowers, grapefruit and peach, the wine reveals a lively freshness and a delicate saline minerality, ideal for accompanying convivial moments and refined aperitifs.

The heart of the company is located in the historic city of Ascoli Piceno, which is located in the region Marche at a distance of about 20 km from Adriatic Sea and at a height of 150/200 m above sea level.
The company's farms extend across the hills that surround the splendid valley of the Tronto river, which, thanks to its clayey and fertile soils, has always been suited to the cultivation of vines.
In addition to the four companies located in Ascoli Piceno, Castorano, Monsampolo del Tronto and Castel di Lama, there is a vineyard in the area of Ancarano (TE) and in the area of San Marcello (AN), between the Castelli di Jesi.
Since the beginning, the winery has achieved great success with journalistic criticism published in the most renowned national and international newspapers such as: W, Robert Parker, Red shrimp, Luca Maroni, AIS and many others.
This is why it is present throughout the national territory with the collaboration of 85 agencies and abroad where it is present in 52 nations both in Europe and in the rest of the world.
Production to date is approximately 2.500.000 bottles and the expectations certainly don't stop there. Read more
