Description
What kind of wine it is
Verso Sera by Velenosi is a red wine that expresses the essence of the Montepulciano grape variety within the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Colline Teramane region. It presents an intense ruby red colour, a prelude to a deep olfactory profile characterised by notes of ripe fruits, plum and blackcurrant, enriched by elegant spicy hints of tobacco and leather. On the palate, it offers a full-bodied flavour, dry and supported by a powerful structure that finds ideal balance in a soft and velvety tannin. To fully appreciate its aromatic complexity, it is recommended to decant the wine about an hour before serving.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in the estate-owned vineyards located in Controguerra, in Abruzzo. Here, the vines sink their roots into medium-textured soils rich in stones, which ensure optimal drainage and promote the natural aromatic concentration of the grapes. Trained using the spurred cordon method, the vines are managed with low yields to maximise the quality of the raw material. The harvest, carried out around mid-October, ensures full phenolic ripeness, a fundamental step in defining the complex and profound character of this robust red.
How it is produced
The vinification process begins with fermentation in temperature-controlled cement tanks. This is followed by a twenty-eight day maceration on the skins, an essential phase for optimal extraction of colour and polyphenolic substances. Subsequently, the wine matures for ten months in large barrels, a choice that encourages slow evolution without overpowering the primary aromas of the grape variety. This careful maturation rounds out the texture, stabilising its softness and defining the elegance that distinguishes the final sip.
History and Curiosities
Verso Sera is born from the passion of the Velenosi winery in the vineyards of Controguerra. This Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Colline Teramane DOCG expresses the identity of the region with a harvest in mid-October. The 28-day maceration on the skins in temperature-controlled cement tanks extracts a profound character. The 10-month ageing in 30 hl barrels gives the 2022 vintage a powerful structure, awarded 99 points by Luca Maroni.

The heart of the company is located in the historic city of Ascoli Piceno, which is located in the region Marche at a distance of about 20 km from Adriatic Sea and at a height of 150/200 m above sea level.
The company's farms extend across the hills that surround the splendid valley of the Tronto river, which, thanks to its clayey and fertile soils, has always been suited to the cultivation of vines.
In addition to the four companies located in Ascoli Piceno, Castorano, Monsampolo del Tronto and Castel di Lama, there is a vineyard in the area of Ancarano (TE) and in the area of San Marcello (AN), between the Castelli di Jesi.
Since the beginning, the winery has achieved great success with journalistic criticism published in the most renowned national and international newspapers such as: W, Robert Parker, Red shrimp, Luca Maroni, AIS and many others.
This is why it is present throughout the national territory with the collaboration of 85 agencies and abroad where it is present in 52 nations both in Europe and in the rest of the world.
Production to date is approximately 2.500.000 bottles and the expectations certainly don't stop there. Read more
