Description
What kind of wine it is
Valiano Chianti Classico Gran Selezione San Lazzaro is a Tuscan red wine of great character. This structured and elegant blend combines the qualities of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The aromatic bouquet reveals notes of dark berries and morello cherries, enriched by a spiciness of ginger, orange zest and anise. On the palate, it displays freshness and savouriness, supported by dense and precise tannins that lead to a finish of black pepper, bitter cocoa, tobacco and liquorice. The fruit is integrated with delicate hints of vanilla and toasted notes, ensuring a remarkable intensity of flavour.
Where it comes from
The grapes originate from Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the heart of Chianti Classico. The Valiano vineyards stretch at around three hundred and fifty metres above sea level, with a south-west exposure that ensures optimal ripening. The vine roots delve into clay and stony soils, while in the Poggio Teo cru, sand and stones prevail. This complex geological matrix imparts a pronounced savouriness to the wine and gives it a vital energy that defines the authentic profile and unmistakable character of these historic Tuscan hills.
How it is produced
The creation of this Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is the result of rigorous organic and sustainable agriculture. Vinification and ageing in barrels define the wine’s structural texture, ensuring excellent ageing potential. To best express its qualities, it is recommended to decant for one hour and serve at temperatures between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius. Its incisive sip makes it ideal paired with red meats and game, perfectly enhancing truffle dishes, spiced stews and mature cheeses.
