Description
What kind of wine it is
Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a still red wine made from Sangiovese grapes. This Tuscan expression offers a broad and complex aromatic profile, with notes of dried flowers, wilted roses, black cherry, chinotto and incense. In the glass, it displays a bright garnet colour, heralding an elegant and well-balanced palate. The structure is powerful yet clean and smooth, finishing with a dynamic, crescendoing finale. Designed for special occasions, it is best enjoyed with grilled red meats, rich roasts, game and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The wine originates from the oldest vineyards of the Uccelliera estate, located in the Castelnuovo dell’Abate area, south-east of Montalcino, in Tuscany. The vines thrive on well-exposed hillsides, at an altitude between two hundred and fifty and three hundred and fifty metres. This particular terroir encourages the full ripening of the grapes, ensuring a solid tannic structure. The Riserva designation is reserved exclusively for vintages with optimal climatic conditions, capable of producing excellent grapes to support long ageing.
How it is produced
The production process enhances the Sangiovese with maturation in Slavonian and French oak barrels for a period ranging from thirty-six to forty-two months. This time in wood stabilises the wine’s structure, enriching it with elegant aromatic nuances. The cycle concludes with bottle ageing of at least eighteen months before release. To fully appreciate its characteristics, it is recommended to decant for one hour and serve at a temperature between eighteen and twenty degrees.
