Description

What kind of wine it is

Travaglini Nebbiolo Coste della Sesia offers an elegant interpretation of Nebbiolo. In the glass, it displays a bright ruby red hue with garnet reflections. The bouquet is intense and unfolds gradually, combining notes of ripe fruit with hints of incense and wildflowers. Distinct earthy tones of undergrowth and almost ferrous mineral nuances emerge clearly. On the palate, it shows a medium structure, where freshness blends with a vibrant savouriness, delivering a refined sip, long-lasting and with a typically slightly bitter finish.

Where it comes from

The grapes are grown in Piedmont, at the foot of Monte Rosa, in the picturesque area of the Coste della Sesia. The vineyards benefit from an ideal microclimate that gives the wine its distinctive character. Travaglini has been dedicated to this area since 1958, following a winemaking philosophy based on minimal intervention. This approach allows the authentic essence of the place to be captured, enhancing the grape variety and creating a deep connection with the land that is clearly perceived with every taste.

How it is produced

Production begins with a twelve to fourteen day fermentation in steel, essential for a gentle extraction of aromas. This is followed by three months of ageing in the same tanks to preserve the integrity of the aromatic profile. The wine then matures in large Slavonian oak barrels for eight months, a crucial period to soften the structure and define light and delicate tannins. The result is a medium-bodied red, ideal for pairing with red meats, game and stews.

History and Curiosities

Since 1958, the Travaglini family has been producing wines of great character, and this Coste della Sesia DOC represents a prestigious Piedmontese expression. Made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, cultivated according to a strict philosophy of minimal intervention, the wine reflects the pure essence of nature. The production process involves a period in stainless steel followed by slow ageing in large Slavonian oak barrels. The result is a fresh and elegant glass, captivating with its delicate tannins, pronounced savouriness, and exceptionally long finish.
