Description
What type of wine it is
Tramin Pinot Nero from Cantina Tramin is a still red wine with the Alto Adige Controlled Designation of Origin, aged in oak and steel, which expresses the clearest nuances of the grape variety. In the glass, it shows a bright ruby red hue, crossed by delicate garnet reflections. The bouquet is a fragrant weave of small red fruits, raspberry, plum, and cherry, enriched by floral notes and a light spiciness, which anticipates a palate with a velvety and enveloping sip, supported by a lively freshness and fine, well-integrated tannins. The flavour profile concludes with an elegant and persistent finish, ideal for accompanying roasts or mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The Pinot Nero grapes grow in Alto Adige, on the hills of Termeno and in the renowned micro-zones of Mazzon and Montagna. The vineyards, located between 350 and 450 metres above sea level, are rooted in limestone soils with the presence of clay and gravel, giving the wine precision and subtle tannins. The environment benefits from marked diurnal temperature variations: warm Mediterranean-style days alternate with nights cooled by Alpine winds. This climatic dynamic ensures a slow ripening of the bunches, optimally fixing the aromatic profile and allowing the wine to achieve perfect structural harmony.
How it is produced
The process begins with a careful manual harvest to preserve the integrity of every single bunch. Maceration at a controlled temperature is accompanied by daily punching down, ideal for gently extracting colours and aromas. This is followed by six months of ageing divided between small French oak barrels, large oak barrels, and steel tanks. This skilful use of different types of casks allows for the creation of a harmonious blend, which softens the tannic structure and enhances the natural fruity freshness, translating the authentic character of the Alto Adige mountains into the glass.
