Description
What kind of wine it is
Pinot Bianco from Cantina Tramin is a still white wine with the Alto Adige controlled designation of origin, produced exclusively from Pinot Bianco grapes. Visually, it displays a bright hue ranging from greenish yellow to pale yellow. The aromatic profile is fresh and clear, characterised by notes of apple and white peach, enriched with delicate floral nuances, hints of hazelnut and green foliage. On the palate, it is dry and fruity, notable for its remarkable fullness and perfect harmony between structure and vibrant acidity. Fermented and matured in steel, the sip finishes with a prolonged persistence and a pleasant mineral trail that invites another taste, making it ideal as an aperitif or paired with tuna carpaccio and fish dishes.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Termeno area, in a highly renowned part of Alto Adige, where the vineyards surround the village and climb the hills at the foot of the mountains, between 250 and 550 metres above sea level. The local climate is marked by a significant temperature range: warm days tempered by Mediterranean currents give way to nights cooled by mountain breezes. This climatic balance promotes optimal ripening and preserves the aromatic richness of the grapes. The vines grow on limestone soils with clay and gravel components, giving the wine a distinctive gustatory tension and an organoleptic profile that reflects the essence of the Alpine environment.
How it is produced
Cantina Tramin employs sustainable farming practices to respect the integrity of the vineyard. After manual harvesting, the bunches undergo immediate gentle pressing. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. To maintain the freshness and purity of the fruit, malolactic fermentation is not carried out. The wine then undergoes maturation in steel, a choice aimed at enhancing the clarity of the aromas and ensuring a dry, defined texture, offering a glass true to the varietal characteristics of the grape.
History and Curiosities
Cantina Tramin, founded in 1898, is a historical benchmark for wine production. Among the interesting facts related to this wine is the adoption of sustainable farming practices, which include respecting natural rhythms and the absence of herbicides in certain vineyards. Furthermore, the 2025 vintage stands out for its extreme weather conditions: a very hot summer led to accelerated ripening and an early, brief, and intense harvest.
