Description
What kind of wine it is
Neprica Primitivo by Tormaresca is a still red wine with Indicazione Geografica Tipica Puglia status, expressing the authentic essence of the Primitivo grape variety. Its aromatic bouquet offers notes of red fruits, rose, violet, pepper and cocoa. On the palate, it reveals a smooth structure, rounded tannins and vibrant freshness, with a persistent finish ideal for cheeses or pasta dishes with ragù. Vinified and matured in stainless steel tanks, it perfectly preserves the purity of the fruit and its lively aromatic expression.
Where it comes from
The grapes for this wine come from two different geographical areas of Puglia, both historically renowned for viticulture. The bunches ripen among the vineyards of the Masseria Maìme estate, in the heart of Salento, and those of Bocca di Lupo, in Minervino Murge. In the latter location, the vines grow at around two hundred and fifty metres above sea level, where the significant temperature variation and the climatic influence of the Vulture volcano encourage the development of a particularly rich aromatic profile. Tormaresca's management aims to enhance the Apulian terroir to the fullest, focusing on native grape varieties to ensure an authentic narrative of the region.
How it is produced
Vinification begins with a careful manual harvest, selecting only the bunches at ideal ripeness. In the winery, after destemming and gentle pressing, the must is transferred to stainless steel tanks. Here, alcoholic fermentation takes place, accompanied by maceration on the skins for eight to ten days at a controlled temperature. Before winter, malolactic fermentation is completed, an essential step to define the aromatic purity. The process concludes with eight months of maturation in steel, followed by a further four months of bottle ageing, necessary to perfectly harmonise every taste component.
