Description

What kind of wine it is

Calafuria Salento Rosato is a still wine that expresses the authenticity of the Negroamaro grape variety. With its coral pink colour, it reveals a soft and fruity sensory profile. On the nose, floral scents of rose and lavender emerge, combined with aromas of fresh fruit. On the palate, it offers perfect structural balance, finishing with a pleasant and well-defined savouriness. This rosé is ideal for accompanying fish soups with fresh tomato and typical Apulian starters. Its clear freshness also pairs harmoniously with cheese selections, poultry, and white meats.

Where it comes from

This wine is produced at the Masseria Maime estate in San Pietro Vernotico, in the heart of Salento. The Apulian region provides ideal conditions for viticulture thanks to its proximity to the sea and the beneficial Mediterranean climate. The vines take root in calcareous and clay soils, a combination that gives the grapes intense aromas and great vivacity on the palate. Tormaresca's approach aims to enhance native grape varieties to the fullest, truly expressing the most genuine essence of the Apulian terroir.

How it is produced

The production process begins with a meticulous manual harvest to select only the best bunches. In the winery, the Negroamaro grapes are destemmed and gently pressed. The must is cold-settled in stainless steel tanks to preserve the primary aromas. This is followed by low-temperature fermentation, which is essential for defining the wine's aromatic profile. The wine then matures in steel in contact with its lees and completes the cycle with a further period of rest, thus achieving perfect expressive and structural stability.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1998 to bring Antinori excellence to Southern Italy, Tormaresca enhances the nobility of Apulian native grape varieties. This captivating wine, whose name pays tribute to a beautiful coastal bay, comes to life at the Masseria Maime estate under the expert guidance of oenologist Renzo Cotarella. A true symbol of the region's wine renaissance, it expresses the vibrant soul of Salento IGT, awarded 89/100 by Decanter. An authentic tribute that celebrates the magical harmony between the Mediterranean climate and the generous limestone soils.
