Description
What kind of wine is it
Turmhof Moscato Giallo is an aromatic still white wine produced by Tiefenbrunner. Made from Moscato Giallo grapes, it expresses the character of Alto Adige through an elegant profile. In the glass, it displays a bright straw yellow colour, releasing an intense floral and fruity bouquet. On the palate, it is savoury and refreshing, offering a refined sip thanks to a well-balanced acidity and a measured residual sugar. It pairs perfectly with fish dishes, Asian cuisine and cheeses.
Where does it come from
The grapes grow in Alto Adige, in the hillside vineyards of Niclara. Cultivated between 250 and 300 metres above sea level using pergola and espalier systems, the vines benefit from a south and south-east exposure that encourages the development of a clear aromatic profile. The soils, rich in calcareous gravel derived from moraine sediments, impart a typical mineral character. These conditions enhance the pronounced savouriness, ensuring a precise and balanced taste expression.
How is it produced
Vinification begins with an eight-hour skin maceration to extract the grape's aromatic profile. After fermentation, the wine rests for ten months in concrete vats, a technique that preserves the purity of the fruit. Once this stage is complete, the final blend is created. Maturation continues for five months, allowing for an excellent structural balance, supported by lively acidity that ensures a long and fresh finish.
History and Curiosities
Produced by the historic winery Tiefenbrunner, founded in 1848, this wine is the result of a passion handed down through five generations. The grapes ripen in the renowned hillside vineyards of Niclara, which benefit from optimal south-eastern exposure. The skilful maceration on the skins and ten months of ageing in cement tanks define its elegant body. Awarded four Bibenda bunches and two Gambero Rosso glasses, the Turmhof Moscato Giallo 2023 expresses an exceptional harmony between tradition, pronounced savouriness and a distinctive floral profile.
