Description
What kind of wine it is
Pinot Bianco Anna by Tiefenbrunner is a still white wine that embodies the elegance of Alto Adige. Made from Pinot Bianco grapes, it stands out for its bright yellow colour with greenish highlights. Its floral aromatic profile releases hints of ripe apple, pear and peach, enriched by notes of lemongrass and lemon balm. On the palate, it is dry and boasts a well-proportioned body, skilfully combining structural power with a velvety texture. Lively freshness leads the sip towards a long and persistent finish, making it ideal to accompany aperitifs, shellfish, risottos and white meats.
Where it comes from
The grapes grow in a privileged position between the municipalities of Magrè and Cortaccia. In this area, the vines sink their roots into soils with complementary characteristics: on one side, calcareous gravel of morainic origin, on the other, sandy alluvial soils. The vineyards, cultivated using both espalier and pergola methods, benefit from altitudes between 210 and 600 metres and optimal sun exposure facing south and south-east. This mineral matrix, combined with significant temperature variations, gives the Pinot Bianco clusters a marked aromatic precision, reflecting the pedoclimatic qualities of a highly suited territory.
How it is produced
The vinification aims to enhance the wine's complexity through ten months of maturation in different containers. Half of the mass rests in large oak barrels with regular bâtonnage to enrich the structure. Part of the must is refined in cement vats, while the remaining portion undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels. Afterwards, the various components are blended into the final blend, which matures for a further two months in cement to harmonise the flavour profile. A five-month period of bottle ageing completes the cycle, ensuring great balance and remarkable ageing potential.
History and Curiosities
The Pinot Bianco Alto Adige DOC Anna 2022 by Tiefenbrunner tells the story of five generations dedicated to sustainable viticulture between Cortaccia and Magrè. Crafted by oenologist Stephan Rohregger and awarded 91 points by James Suckling, this wine skilfully combines tradition and innovation. Its extraordinary elegance is the result of a tailored maturation of ten months in large wooden barrels with bâtonnage, cement and tonneau, followed by further ageing in cement and in bottle. A true artisanal expression of the South Tyrolean territory.
