Description
What kind of wine it is
Toscana Rosso Melograni is a still red wine created from a meticulous blend of Sangiovese and Petit Verdot. It displays an intense, brilliant ruby red colour, heralding a broad and persistent aromatic profile. On the nose, clear notes of red fruit emerge, harmoniously blending with delicate toasted nuances from the ageing process. On the palate, it reveals a full and intense style, ensuring an excellent balance between structure and smoothness, making each sip enveloping and well-defined.
Where it comes from
This elegant red has its roots in Tuscany, faithfully reflecting the territorial characteristics of the Montegonfoli area. The wine is produced by the Teruzzi winery, established in 1974. Careful enhancement of the local soil and climate results in a wine with a strong regional identity, where the fruity component and the measured woody note demonstrate the deep connection between the vineyard and its natural environment of choice.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a rigorous selection of grapes in the vineyard, followed by destemming. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in truncated-conical tanks at controlled temperature to preserve aromatic freshness. The wine then matures for 12-15 months in French oak barrels, using both new and previously used wood. Finally, the red rests for a further 5 months in tank, an essential period to stabilise the sensory profile and perfectly refine the taste.
History and Curiosities
Born in 1974 from the intuition of Enrico Teruzzi, Toscana Rosso Melograni celebrates the terroir of Montegonfoli. Created by Teruzzi & Puthod, this elegant blend of Sangiovese and Petit Verdot offers a full and intense sip. The meticulous maturation in French oak tonneaux for 12-15 months enriches its persistent bouquet of red fruits with refined woody notes. Thanks to an excellent ageing potential of 5-10 years, this wine best expresses the perfect balance between structure, smoothness, and the purest Tuscan winemaking tradition.
