Description

What kind of wine it is

Terlaner Cuvée Nova Domus Riserva is a white wine from Alto Adige that expresses the essence of the region through a blend of Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. It appears a pale yellow with slight greenish hues. The bouquet reveals aromatic herbs and spices such as anise, mint and sage, combined with notes of apricot, mandarin, melon and passion fruit. On the palate, it stands out for its complex and creamy structure, balanced by a pronounced minerality. This balance gives the sip substance, finishing with a long and deep persistence that enhances the aromatic character of the grapes.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Alto Adige and is produced by Cantina Terlano. The grapes ripen in vineyards facing south and south-west, where altitude plays a key role: Pinot Bianco is grown between 500 and 600 metres above sea level, while Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are cultivated between 300 and 350 metres. These microclimatic conditions ensure a well-defined aromatic profile, imparting a true territorial identity to the glass. The interaction between the soils and the climate results in a marked mineral savouriness that harmoniously supports the wine's softness.

How it is produced

Vinification begins with manual harvesting and gentle whole-bunch pressing. The must is clarified through natural settling, then slowly ferments at a controlled temperature in large oak barrels. This is followed by partial malolactic fermentation, carried out only for the Pinot Bianco and Chardonnay. The wine then matures with ageing on fine lees for twelve months in wooden barrels, a stage that enriches its complexity and smoothness. The creation of the blend takes place three months before bottling, combining the grape varieties to ensure a savoury, structured and well-balanced tasting experience.

History and Curiosities

The prestigious Terlaner Cuvée Nova Domus Riserva originates from the historic Terlano Winery, an excellence of Alto Adige since 1893. The 2023 vintage combines Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, with the grapes harvested by hand. Whole cluster pressing and slow fermentation in oak barrels enhance the richness of the terroir. The twelve-month ageing on fine lees gives the palate a creamy structure, enriched by a vibrant mineral savouriness and intense aromas of apricot and mint, culminating in a long and persistent finish.
