Description
What kind of wine it is
Santa Maddalena by Terlano is a still red wine that expresses the authentic soul of the South Tyrolean region. It is crafted from a skilful blend of Schiava and Lagrein, offering a lively, rounded and extremely elegant sip. On the nose, it reveals an intense fruity bouquet with clear aromas of cherry and elderberry, delicately nuanced by elegant hints of violet and bitter almond. The palate is smooth and clean, supported by perfectly balanced acidity and delicate, soft tannins, ensuring a harmonious, pleasant finish with remarkable persistence on the palate.
Where it comes from
The grapes that give life to this red come from Alto Adige, from the picturesque vineyards surrounding the village of Santa Maddalena, near Bolzano. The vines grow at an altitude between three hundred and six hundred metres above sea level, sinking their roots into sandy and stony soils that ensure optimal drainage. These specific pedoclimatic conditions enhance the crisp and vibrant profile of the raw material, giving the wine its typical fragrance. The deep connection with the growing area allows Terlano to achieve an expression in which the balanced structure naturally merges with a lively fruity identity.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a rigorous harvest and manual selection of the grapes, followed by gentle destemming. Fermentation takes place slowly and at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, a choice aimed at preserving the freshness and precision of the primary aromas. Subsequently, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and rests for a period of maturation in large wooden barrels lasting seven or eight months. The union of the different components is completed with the final blending before bottling, defining the enveloping character and intense ruby red colour of this elegant oenological interpretation.
