Description

What kind of wine it is

The Terlan Pinot Noir from Cantina Terlano is a red wine that embodies the essence of Pinot Noir cultivated in Alto Adige. In the glass, it displays a vibrant hue, between ruby and cinnabar. The bouquet is fresh and inviting, characterised by notes of blackberry and bilberry, accompanied by hints of cherry, liquorice and delicate woodland undertones. On the palate, it expresses a perfect balance between the fullness of the fruit and a fine tannic structure, offering a crisp sip, enriched by pronounced mineral notes and an elegant, persistent finish.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the slopes overlooking the village of Terlano and the breezy plateau of Monticolo, in the heart of the Alto Adige region. The vineyards are situated at an altitude between 250 and 900 metres, enjoying optimal south and south-west exposure. This area benefits from an ideal microclimate, refreshed by constant evening breezes. The vines grow on sandy and stony soils, well-drained and rich in porphyry: fundamental geological elements that give the distinctive freshness and fragrance typical of this label.

How it is produced

Production begins with meticulous manual harvesting, essential for selecting only bunches that have reached perfect ripeness. After destemming, vinification involves slow fermentation at a controlled temperature in steel tanks, with gentle movement of the must for balanced extraction. Once malolactic fermentation is complete, the wine matures for several months in large wooden barrels. This stage softens the tannic texture and gives roundness to the palate, preserving the purest expression of Pinot Noir.

History and Curiosities

This Pinot Noir 2025 combines the elegance of the region with the centuries-old expertise of Cantina Terlano (1893). Produced from grapes grown on the breezy slopes of the Monticolo plateau, this fine Alto Adige DOC is the result of rigorous manual selection and ageing in large barrels. Careful vinification in steel preserves its vibrant freshness and aromas of blackberry, blueberry and liquorice. On the palate, it expresses a perfect balance between the enveloping fullness of the fruit, a delicate tannic structure and deep mineral notes.
