Description

What kind of wine it is

The Terlano Pinot Nero Monticol Riserva from Cantina Terlano faithfully expresses the character of Pinot Noir in Alto Adige. In the glass, it displays a brilliant ruby red hue. The bouquet is finely nuanced, with aromas of raspberries, blackberries and wild strawberries, interwoven with elegant spices and hints of flint. On the palate, it offers a dry and balanced sip, led by a pronounced mineral elegance that adds depth. The long and complex finish makes it ideal for pairing with roast beef, flavourful mature cheeses and saddle of venison.

Where it comes from

This riserva originates in Terlano, from mid-altitude vineyards with favourable exposures. The vines sink their roots into a sandy and stony soil with excellent drainage, naturally regulating water supply. This geological composition gives the wine a dry and defined profile, supporting the distinct mineral component perceptible on tasting. The Alto Adige climate favours optimal grape ripening, preserving freshness and aromatic clarity. The imprint of this mountain terroir translates into a clean and exceptionally persistent drink.

How it is produced

Vinification begins with a manual harvest and careful selection of the bunches. After destemming, a slow fermentation at controlled temperature takes place in steel tanks, with gentle movements of the must for targeted aromatic extraction. Malolactic fermentation softens any sharp edges, making the sip silkier. The wine matures for twelve months in wooden barrels of varying sizes, enriching the structure while respecting the integrity of the fruit. Shortly before the process concludes, the final blend is created, a crucial step to harmonise the elements and define the final elegance of the glass.
