Description

What kind of wine it is

The Gewürztraminer Lunare from Terlano is a still white wine that fully expresses the character of the Alto Adige denomination. Made from Gewürztraminer grapes, also known as Aromatic Traminer, it reveals a refined structure and intense expressiveness. The bouquet releases vibrant tropical and exotic notes of lychee, grapefruit, lime and orange, harmonised by touches of candied rose petals and ginger. On the palate, the fruity hints accompany a dry, smooth sip with a marked savouriness, outlining an enveloping and precise profile.

Where it comes from

This white originates in the wine-growing area of Terlano, a territory capable of imparting a strong identity to the wine. The area is distinguished by its continental climate, protected from cold Atlantic currents by the Alpine chain and softened by Mediterranean air influences. The vineyards, with a favourable south and south-west exposure, benefit from a marked daily temperature range that promotes optimal aromatic ripening of the grapes. These particular environmental conditions give the sip its typical freshness and an intense territorial definition.

How it is produced

The production process begins with a careful manual harvest and a rigorous selection of the bunches. After gentle pressing and natural clarification, the must undergoes a slow fermentation at a controlled temperature. Maturation takes place for nine months on fine lees, divided between stainless steel tanks and large wooden barrels. Three months before bottling, the final blend is carried out, an essential step to consolidate the structural balance and set the complex aromatic geometry that distinguishes the label.

History and Curiosities

Cantina Terlano, founded in 1893, is one of the most innovative producers' cooperatives in South Tyrol. The wine-growing landscape where the wine is born has been shaped by generations of winegrowers. As Rudi Kofler states, Lunare brings great joy to those who drink it, standing out for its overall harmony.
