Description
What kind of wine it is
The Alto Adige Muller Thurgau from Cantina Terlano showcases the qualities of Müller Thurgau at their best. Characterised by a pale straw yellow colour, on the nose it offers aromas of ripe peach combined with refined hints of nutmeg and white pepper. On the palate, it stands out for its balanced structure and vibrant acidity, ensuring a harmonious and linear sip. Ideal as an aperitif, it elegantly accompanies swordfish carpaccio and fresh mountain cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in Terlano, in the Alto Adige region. The vineyards are situated on steep slopes, with roots firmly anchored in the red porphyry of Monte Zoccolo. Altitudes range from 250 to 900 metres: these mountainous areas allow for a magnificent aromatic expression of the grapes. The mineral nature of the soil and the steep gradients give the wine a profile with a strong territorial identity.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a rigorous manual harvest. In the winery, the grapes are gently pressed whole, followed by the natural clarification of the must. Fermentation takes place slowly in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Afterwards, the wine matures for a period of between five and seven months on the fine lees, a crucial stage for enriching its structure without compromising its varietal freshness.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1893, the historic Cantina Terlano encapsulates the essence of Alto Adige in this Müller Thurgau. Under the guidance of oenologist Rudi Kofler, the grapes are grown on the steep, sun-drenched slopes of red porphyry on Monte Zoccolo, at altitudes reaching 900 metres. The meticulous hand harvesting and delicate ageing on the lees for 5-7 months in stainless steel give the wine a distinctive elegance. The result is an exceptional white wine, capable of reflecting the identity of the region with an intense freshness.
