Description

What kind of wine it is

Paxmentis Leggermente Appassito Syrah is a still red wine produced by Tenute Orestiadi in Sicily. Made from Syrah grapes, it offers a deep profile, with prominent notes of sweet red fruits, plum, cherry in spirit and hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is robust and austere, supported by a full and velvety body with soft tannins, delivering a persistent finish. Maturation in French oak barrels defines its structure, giving the sip an elegant character and a fragrant finish.

Where it comes from

The wine originates from Gibellina, in the inland area of the province of Trapani. The vineyards stretch at an altitude approaching five hundred metres above sea level, rooted in black silty-clay soil. This soil composition, compact and drought-resistant, creates the ideal environment for the grapes to reach full ripeness. The character of the terroir is reflected in the glass with an intense red colour with vibrant purple hues. Its inclusion in the Terre Siciliane denomination clearly enhances the identity of the territory.

How it is produced

The process begins at the end of September with the harvest of bunches at perfect ripeness. The grapes then undergo a drying process in the fruit room for twenty to thirty days, a technique that naturally concentrates the aromas. After destemming and crushing, temperature-controlled fermentation continues for fifteen to twenty days, balancing structural extraction. The cycle is completed with twelve months of ageing in barrels, an essential step to give the wine its velvety texture and prolonged persistence.

History and Curiosities

Born in Gibellina, Paxmentis Syrah expresses the soul of Tenute Orestiadi, harmoniously blending art and viticulture. This label celebrates the richness of the Sicilian territory through the use of grapes harvested at perfect ripeness. Thanks to a delicate drying process in the fruit loft for about 20-30 days, the wine develops a sumptuous and velvety structure. The subsequent maturation in French oak barriques for 12 months shapes its elegant profile, offering intense notes of red fruits, hints of vanilla and a finish of incredible fragrance.

Tenute Orestiadi has an ancient name that evokes distant myths and legends which, precisely in the lands of the Belìce Valley, found life thanks to Aeschylus, who two thousand five hundred years ago wrote and staged the myth of Orestes and the Orestiadi. This is where the story of the Tenute Orestiadi starts, founded in 2008 in the heart of the Belìce Valley, in Gibellina, Sicily, where Mediterranean scents and colors intertwine with myth and art. By transforming the arduous ascent after a historically and economically complex moment, the 1968 earthquake, into energy, the whole has become a cultural and dialogue center for the Mediterranean area.
