Description

What kind of wine it is

Tenute Orestiadi Metodo Classico Carricante Petramater Brut is an elegant Brut sparkling wine from the Sicilian lands. Made from Carricante grapes, this Metodo Classico stands out for its bright straw yellow colour and a fine, persistent perlage. The bouquet reveals refined notes of bread crust, fresh citrus, white peach and delicate hints of acacia flowers. On the palate, a lively acidity emerges, leading to a long, savoury finish characterised by pronounced mineral notes. It is an ideal wine to accompany sophisticated fish and shellfish dishes.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in the Valle del Belìce, an area of Sicily deeply connected to the enhancement of the land. The vineyards of Tenute Orestiadi stretch up to 480 metres above sea level, growing on distinctive white earth soils. This unique microclimate gives the grapes a profound savoury and vibrant character. In this geographical context, Carricante expresses its full potential, providing an excellent raw material for a sparkling wine whose hallmarks are freshness and mineral definition.

How it is produced

Production begins in September with the manual harvest of selected bunches from Guyot-trained vines. In the winery, after gentle pressing and temperature-controlled fermentation, the base wine is set for sparkling following the strict Metodo Classico. The secondary fermentation in the bottle is followed by a slow ageing on the lees for thirty months. This stage is essential to enrich the aromatic complexity and to refine the overall elegance and structure of the wine.

History and Curiosities

Born in the Belìce Valley, the Petramater project by Tenute Orestiadi celebrates the resilience of a region reborn after the 1968 earthquake. This exceptional Metodo Classico Brut showcases the Carricante grape variety in its purest form, transforming historical memory into vibrant elegance. Awarded 90 points by Luca Maroni, it stands out for its long thirty-month maturation on the lees, which forges its profound local identity. A proud expression of the Terre Siciliane IGT, created to enhance unique agricultural characteristics with an unmistakable sensory appeal.

Tenute Orestiadi has an ancient name that evokes distant myths and legends which, precisely in the lands of the Belìce Valley, found life thanks to Aeschylus, who two thousand five hundred years ago wrote and staged the myth of Orestes and the Orestiadi. This is where the story of the Tenute Orestiadi starts, founded in 2008 in the heart of the Belìce Valley, in Gibellina, Sicily, where Mediterranean scents and colors intertwine with myth and art. By transforming the arduous ascent after a historically and economically complex moment, the 1968 earthquake, into energy, the whole has become a cultural and dialogue center for the Mediterranean area.
