Description
What kind of wine it is
Tenuta Viglione Spumante Moscato Dolce is a sparkling white wine made from Moscato Bianco grapes. Produced in Apulia, it stands out for its bright golden yellow colour and a fine, lively perlage. On the nose, it releases fragrant aromas of apple, wild rose and citrus. Crafted using the Charmat method, it reveals a semi-sweet and balanced profile on the palate. The sip offers notes of honey and candied citrus peel, finishing with a floral finale that is ideal for pairing with desserts or cheeses.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the hills of the Ionian Murgia, in the Apulia region. The vineyards of Tenuta Viglione are located at an altitude of four hundred metres, with a favourable south-west exposure. The vines take root in soils with a strong clay and limestone composition, a combination that enhances the grape's aromas and ensures the right freshness. The winery cultivates the grapes with the aim of highlighting the distinctive character of this particular landscape.
How it is produced
Production begins with manual harvesting in the second half of September from vines trained on trellises. This is followed by fermentation in steel and subsequent secondary fermentation, technical choices aimed at protecting the delicate aromatic nuances of Moscato Bianco. In the glass, the natural acidity harmoniously balances the residual sugar, outlining a well-balanced structure. It is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 6-8 °C to best appreciate its liveliness.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1967 among the hills of the Ionian Murgia in Apulia, Tenuta Viglione cultivates 200 hectares of vineyards from which this elegant sparkling wine made from Moscato Bianco grapes is born. Grown at an altitude of 400 metres on clay and limestone soils, the grapes are hand-harvested in the second half of September. Under the expert guidance of oenologist Tommaso Pinto, fermentation in steel tanks using the Charmat method preserves and enhances the fragrant floral aromas of the grape variety, resulting in an authentic Puglia IGT that captivates with its lively freshness.
