Description
What kind of wine is it
This still white wine is made from Pecorino grapes grown in the Terre di Chieti area. To the eye, it displays an intense straw yellow colour enriched with greenish highlights. The bouquet releases intense aromas of white fruit, such as peach, alongside hints of grapefruit and papaya. On the palate, it expresses a marked minerality and vibrant acidity, offering a dynamic sip that leads to a long and particularly pleasant finish.
Where does it come from
The vineyards are located in Crecchio, Abruzzo, and are rooted in medium-textured gravelly soil. The vines, trained using the spur-pruned cordon method, benefit from an excellently ventilated climate and pronounced temperature variations between day and night, ideal conditions for preserving the freshness of the grapes. In this prime territory, Tenuta Ulisse enhances a historic grape variety whose name recalls the ancient transhumance of shepherds.
How is it produced
The early manual harvest involves passing the bunches through an exclusive cooling tunnel. The subsequent skin cryomaceration promotes optimal extraction of aromatic precursors. After pressing in an inert environment and static clarification, the must undergoes a slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks, where the wine matures for about three months before completing its ageing in the bottle.
History and Curiosities
Originating from Crecchio, Tenuta Ulisse's Pecorino has been enhancing the Abruzzo ampelographic heritage since 2006. The name of this wine recalls the ancient transhumance of shepherds, who used to graze their flocks among the vines after the harvest. Its aromatic liveliness is born in the cooling tunnel through skin cryomaceration, enhancing the aromas and ensuring a distinct minerality. Finally, the strong temperature variations of the area give this native white an elegant balance and a vibrant freshness.
