Description

Style of wine

Amaranta by Tenuta Ulisse is a red wine that faithfully interprets Montepulciano grapes. Within the context of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, it expresses a deep and structured profile. The bouquet is broad and complex, animated by hints of plum, cherry jam, tobacco and a delicate spicy note. On the palate, it reveals itself as full and enveloping, supported by well-integrated tannins that ensure a balanced and satisfying sip.

Origin

This wine reflects the authentic identity of Abruzzo, finding its ideal origin in the Crecchio territory. Tenuta Ulisse pays rigorous attention to the region's premier grape variety, transferring the peculiarities of the local soil to the glass. Care in the vineyard translates into an intense ruby red colour and remarkable aromatic complexity. The result is a tasting with a defined territorial footprint, whose flavour architecture and deep structure make it ideal for accompanying rich and savoury culinary preparations.

How it is produced

The winemaking begins with maceration on the skins lasting ten to twelve days to ensure optimal colour extraction. This is followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Subsequently, part of the mass matures in French and American oak barrels, gaining roundness without masking the fragrance of the fruit. Served at 16-18°C, preferably after a short decantation, it pairs beautifully with pasta dishes with sauce, savoury roasts and semi-matured cheeses.

History and curiosities

The special edition Amaranta 20th Anniversary celebrates Tenuta Ulisse's dedication to Montepulciano d’Abruzzo PDO and the Crecchio territory. This wine is a sincere tribute to the region's most famous red grape variety and the traditions of the Ulisse family. Its value is confirmed by the 99 points from Luca Maroni and 92 from James Suckling, consolidating a brand awarded the title of Best Italian Producer 2020.

Our story begins with an intuition and continues thanks to the desire to never be satisfied. From the vision of Don Antonio Ulisse to the present day, the tenacious spirit of the company remains unchanged: a young winery that makes innovation its main driving force. Since 2006, we have been exploring the infinite possibilities that Abruzzo viticulture has to offer, combining a passion for the historical grape varieties of these lands with the need to evolve and experiment.

Our values are the glue that holds us together. We carry on our idea of wine day after day, working as a true team. We are a family business because together, with care and respect, we give daily shape to the dream of those who founded that family. It is a complex system, which we carry forward with pride and a collaborative spirit, with a single goal in mind: to continue to be active players in the oenological renaissance of the region we love, Abruzzo.
