Description

What kind of wine it is

Tenuta Ulisse Merlot Rosé is a still rosé wine from Abruzzo that celebrates the vibrancy of Merlot grapes. On the nose, it offers elegant aromas of red fruits, including blueberry and raspberry, intertwined with delicate notes of rose. On the palate, it reveals a fresh and balanced profile, supported by a pleasant acidity that leads the tasting towards a persistent finish. Thanks to meticulous work in the cellar, this rosé is immediate and harmonious. Perfect as a refined aperitif, it pairs easily with light cured meats, lean fish and white meats.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from the fascinating area of Terre di Chieti, specifically in the municipality of Crecchio. Here, Tenuta Ulisse manages vineyards characterised by distinctive differences in exposure and soil composition. This microclimatic variety ensures a faithful expression of the grapes, enhancing the specificities of each individual plot. Careful agronomic management aims to highlight the identity of the territory, ensuring ideal ripening conditions. Thus, an authentic interpretation of Merlot comes to life, deeply linked to the climate of Abruzzo and its natural ecosystem.

How it is produced

The process begins with a rapid lowering of the temperature in a cooling tunnel, followed by careful cold skin cryomaceration. This delicate operation extracts and preserves the precious original aromatic compounds. After destemming and a twelve-hour maceration, a protected pressing is carried out in an inert environment. The white vinification of Merlot continues with slow fermentation at a controlled temperature in temperature-regulated tanks. Finally, three months of maturation in steel vats preserves the clear fragrance of the fruit intact.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 2006, Tenuta Ulisse is the family-run winery at the forefront of the Abruzzo wine renaissance. Led by oenologist Antonio Ulisse, the company makes the most of the unique microclimates across its 70 hectares in the Terre di Chieti. This wine is made from Merlot grapes, a variety originally from the Gironde, which owes its name to the blackbird's fondness for its berries. Thanks to a particular white vinification process, the winery creates a refined expression, considered among the best rosés in Italy, skilfully blending the preservation of the ampelographic heritage with innovation.

Our story begins with an intuition and continues thanks to the desire to never be satisfied. From the vision of Don Antonio Ulisse to the present day, the tenacious spirit of the company remains unchanged: a young winery that makes innovation its main driving force. Since 2006, we have been exploring the infinite possibilities that Abruzzo viticulture has to offer, combining a passion for the historical grape varieties of these lands with the need to evolve and experiment.

Our values are the glue that holds us together. We carry on our idea of wine day after day, working as a true team. We are a family business because together, with care and respect, we give daily shape to the dream of those who founded that family. It is a complex system, which we carry forward with pride and a collaborative spirit, with a single goal in mind: to continue to be active players in the oenological renaissance of the region we love, Abruzzo.
