Description

What kind of wine it is

Tenuta di Nozzole Chianti Classico is a still red wine with a deep ruby colour. Made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, it reveals a generous aromatic profile, characterised by notes of ripe fresh fruit and maraschino cherry. These are joined by elegant floral nuances of rose and violet, along with delicate hints of aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is broad and decisive, distinguished by remarkable savouriness and clear references to wild berries, accompanied by subtle hints of spices and mushrooms. The tasting concludes with a persistent and balanced finish, supported by extremely smooth tannins.

Where it comes from

This Sangiovese originates in Greve in Chianti, at the heart of the historic Chianti Classico area in Tuscany. The vineyards of Tenuta di Nozzole are situated at an altitude between 280 and 380 metres, where they benefit from ideal soil and climate conditions. The estate, managed by the Folonari family since 1971, boasts ancient winemaking roots, documented as far back as the 14th century. The agronomic management is based on controlled planting density and low yields, ensuring healthy and concentrated grapes. The deep connection with this Florentine terroir gives the wine its typical pronounced structure and vibrant aromatic definition.

How it is produced

Vinification begins with temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks for about fifteen days. During this phase, délestage and pumping over operations promote optimal extraction of colour and phenolic components. This is followed by maturation for about twelve months in French oak barrels, whose measured renewal consolidates the elegant tannic texture while preserving the integrity of the fruit. The production process concludes with a final ageing of at least three months, ensuring the wine achieves perfect gustatory harmony.

History and Curiosities

The Tenuta di Nozzole represents the beating heart of the Florentine region, with a winemaking tradition dating back to the 1300s.
