Description

What kind of wine it is

Pactio Vermentino by Fertuna is an organic white wine with the Indicazione Geografica Tipica Costa Toscana, produced in Tuscany from Vermentino grapes. In the glass, it displays a straw yellow colour with bright greenish reflections, while on the nose it offers fruity aromas of pear and grapefruit, intertwined with delicate scents of Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it reveals a full and dry body, characterised by a pronounced acidity that enhances its liveliness. A clear mineral vein accompanies the tasting towards a clean and elegant finish.

Where it comes from

The Vermentino grapes originate in the Maremma Toscana, in the valley between Vetulonia and Giuncarico near the municipality of Gavorrano. This coastal area, part of the Costa Toscana, is distinguished by its lush and unspoilt nature. Fertuna, whose name evokes the fertility of the countryside, cultivates its vineyards following the principles of organic farming. This sustainable approach allows the authentic character of the Maremma landscape to be conveyed in every sip.

How it is produced

Vinification begins with a gentle pressing of the bunches to extract the finest part of the must. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature for about twenty days. To preserve the natural aromatic expression of the grape variety, the process excludes any wood ageing. The cycle ends with a brief refinement in the bottle, resulting in a balanced wine that is ideal for pairing with fresh fish, shellfish, and vegetarian first courses.

History and Curiosities

In the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, in the evocative valley between Vetulonia and Giuncarico, the Pactio Vermentino 2025 is born. Founded in 1997, Tenuta Fertuna owes its name to Latin roots that celebrate the natural fertility and fortune of this land. The latest addition among the whites of the organic winery, this wine fully embodies the identity of the Costa Toscana IGT. Every sip reflects a deep dedication to the land, bringing to the glass the most authentic and unmistakable soul of the lush Mediterranean scrub.

The name is fantastic and recalls the almost rarefied atmosphere. We can perceive the sense of a suspended place in the time and in the space, with a magical feeling.

This aura of mystery suggested the name Fertuna that, with its elements, reveals itself as an holder of concrete messages close to reality: first of all the consonance with the word "fortuna", which sounds like a good wish, even if its ancient etymological meaning refers to the favorable configuration of a place. Secondly, the theme fert, from Latin fertus, means fertile.

About 50 hectares are used for the production of a variety of specific grapes in order to obtain high quality wines. This surface could be enlarged for further 50 hectares. All vineyards are endowed with a drop by drop irrigation system, nourished by a big artificial lake of about 15.000 sqm, that collects its waters from local sources. An hyper technological cellar placed at the centre of vineyards, shows the project of this estate. The structure made by laminated wood is the best example of modern technology that doesn't forget tradition, recalled by the barriques wood typical of wine history.

A great consignment holds the recent and high technological fleet of farm cars, that is used for all the modern manufactures and is well integrated with insiders' skills. The surface covered is of about 3.600 sqm.
